The Conno|sior Exhibit brings together the best in design, art, and cultural heritage, and the Spirited Serenade lounge space is a perfect example of this convergence. A collaboration between Mav Furniture, M Décore, and SoFA Design Institute, this special vignette styled by IDr. Migs Alcid and his team from Studio Tatin pays tribute to two iconic Filipino cultural pillars: Original Pilipino Music (OPM) and the vibrant art scene of Cubao Expo.
This unique lounge space is not just a visual treat but an immersive experience that celebrates the intersection of music, art, and design. It brings the soulful melodies of OPM into conversation with the eclectic, creative energy of Cubao Expo’s art community, transforming the lounge into a lively hub of artistic expression and Filipino pride.
An Homage to OPM
At the heart of Spirited Serenade is a tribute to OPM, a musical genre that has long been the soundtrack of the Filipino experience. The stylists drew inspiration from the timeless appeal of OPM, incorporating elements that evoke nostalgia for iconic Filipino songs while paying homage to contemporary artists who continue to shape the local music scene. The lounge’s design reflects this blend of old and new, with furnishings and decor that echo the rhythm and soul of Filipino music.
Soft, flowing lines in the furniture mimic the lyrical quality of OPM, while vibrant accents of color and pattern capture the passion and energy of the genre. Mav Furniture’s elegant pieces create a relaxed yet stylish atmosphere, encouraging visitors to sit back and enjoy the music. The warm, inviting tones of the room evoke the feeling of listening to a favorite song—a space where comfort meets artistic flair.
Cubao Expo’s Artistic Spirit
Known as a creative melting pot in Quezon City, Cubao Ex, short for Cubao Expo is home to a thriving community of artists, musicians, and cultural innovators. The Spirited Serenade lounge takes cues from the raw, creative spirit of this beloved artistic enclave, incorporating eclectic design elements that celebrate the location's unique charm.
The vignette is a celebration of art as a lifestyle. Every corner of the space is adorned with unique pieces, handpicked to reflect the creativity and individuality that define Cubao Expo's art scene. M Décore’s carefully curated accessories add a layer of craftsmanship and authenticity, showcasing the raw beauty of handmade art. The room’s cozy and inviting energy is further highlighted by OPM album artworks by Albert Raqueño, playful textures, musical instruments, a record player, and warm hues, all of which nod to Cubao Expo’s role as a melting pot of art, music, creativity and community.

A Collaborative Masterpiece
The collaborative styling of Spirited Serenade is a result of creative synergy. IDr Migs Alcid, along with his team from Studio Tatin—Vienna Bleza, Neil John Remolin, Mariz Ann Fetalvero, Cher Diesta, Alex Beroña, and Kyra Padilla—worked in harmony to bring this vision to life. Each designer and stylist brought their own flair to the project, contributing to the lounge’s eclectic yet cohesive aesthetic.
Mav Furniture’s sophisticated yet comfortable pieces serve as the foundation of the lounge, while M Décore’s artful accessories, lamps and decor items add layers of texture and storytelling. Together, these elements create a space that is both grounded in tradition and alive with modern energy, much like the OPM songs and Cubao Expo community it pays tribute to.

Where Music, Art, and Design Converge
One of the most captivating aspects of Spirited Serenade is how it weaves together music, art, and design into a unified experience. The lounge is more than just a place to sit; it’s an invitation to immerse yourself in the culture and creativity that defines Filipino artistry amongst friends. Whether it’s the subtle nods to beloved OPM ballads or the playful incorporation of Cubao Expo’s vibrant art scene, every detail in this space tells a story.
The Spirited Serenade lounge captures the essence of artistic collaboration and the power of cultural expression. It serves as a reminder that design, like music and art, is a medium through which stories are told, emotions are felt, and identities are celebrated.
